The Guizzetti's in the world, on the left Maurizio Guizzetti from Solto Collina with Dennis Lakari, Gloria Guizzetti husband, who went to Solto Collina from Michigan (USA) to see her father's native place, he emigrated to USA many years ago.

Solto is a pleasant village situated on the hill which protects it from behind and slopes down to the lake of Iseo.
The lake and the mountains encircilng it are the pleasant, changeable but however enchanting landscape you can admire from Solto Collina. Winds spare it, its climate is mild thanks to the lake and it lies in the sun on a large false-plain. The village is peaceful, full of lights, colours, scents, silence and striking views. This position helped the settiement of important families who buit here large fortifications. These belonged originally to Colombini's, Oldrati's and Codefern's families, they date back to XI-XII century and were based on exential parts, whose important elements are still standing:
the Foresti's Tower in Contrada Canzanico
the Castle in Contrada Castello
the Chinetti's Tower in Contrada Sconico (now part of a larger building)
the "Casa-Forte" (The Fortress) in Contrada Dosso
Remains of Halls and wails are visible at Esmate and in some houses of Contrada Furmigniano where time seems to have stopped among the houses made of stones.

Esmate: a balcony on the lake of Iseo
The position of Esmate is cheerful and pleasant, dominating the lake of Iseo; in some places you can admire contemporaneously the lakes of Gaiano and Endine. Giovanni Maironi from Ponte presented Esmate like this in his travel dictionary of the province of Bergamo. Esmate is a peculiar village in elevated position on the hill which divides Val Cavallina (Cavallina Valley) from the Lake of Iseo and which is formed by Monte Clemo and Monte Na. It is sheltered from the Nothem winds and exposed to the gentle breeze from the lake Sebino. It is 590 mt on the sea level and 39 km far from Bergamo. At Esmate you can find traces of towers, entrances and medioeval walls.
